Neem Coated Urea (NCU) is conventional agricultural urea enveloped with neem seed oil containing active triterpenoids such as Nimbin, Nimbidin, and Azadirachtin. Mechanism of Nitrogen Release

- Mitigation of Environmental Pollution: Slower formation of nitrate reduces nitrate leaching into groundwater aquifers, helping prevent conditions such as methemoglobinemia (Blue Baby Syndrome). Additionally, by limiting excess nitrate accumulation, it restricts denitrification pathways, reducing emissions of nitrous oxide (N₂O), a potent greenhouse gas.
- Soil Health and Nematicidal Effects: Secondary metabolites present in neem oil exhibit mild nematicidal and bio-pesticidal properties, suppressing harmful soil pathogens such as root-knot nematodes and improving the rhizosphere environment.
