Explanation

Total population is 3,00,000. Total literates are 50 percent of 3,00,000 which equals 1,50,000. Male population is 1,80,000. Literate males are 70 percent of 1,80,000 which equals 1,26,000. Literate females are calculated by subtracting literate males from the total literates. So, 1,50,000 minus 1,26,000 equals 24,000. Therefore, the number of literate females is 24,000.
