Explanation

The first session of the Indian National Congress was held from December 28 to December 31, 1885, at Gokuldas Tejpal Sanskrit College in Bombay. It was presided over by Womesh Chandra Bonnerjee and attended by 72 delegates. Initially, the session was planned to take place in Poona, but the venue was shifted to Bombay due to an outbreak of cholera in Poona.
