- CR. C. Dutt
- DSubhash Chandra Bose
Explanation
Surendranath Banerji passed the Indian Civil Service examination in 1869 and was appointed as an Assistant Magistrate in Sylhet. However, he was dismissed from the service in 1874 on minor grounds of procedural errors and technicalities. Following his dismissal, he entered politics and became a prominent nationalist leader, founding the Indian National Association and later serving as a key figure in the Indian National Congress.
While the other individuals listed have connections to the civil services, their circumstances were different. Satyendranath Tagore was the first Indian to join the ICS and retired normally. R. C. Dutt also served and retired voluntarily. Subhash Chandra Bose passed the exam but resigned before joining to join the freedom struggle. Therefore, Surendranath Banerji is the only one among them who was dismissed by the British.
