Explanation
The Radcliffe Committee was appointed in July 1947, just before India's independence. Its primary mandate was to formally delimit the boundaries between the two newly created independent dominions: India and Pakistan (West Pakistan and East Pakistan, now Bangladesh). Sir Cyril Radcliffe was the chairman of the Boundary Commissions (one for Punjab and one for Bengal) which constituted the Radcliffe Committee. The resulting boundary line, known as the Radcliffe Line, was officially published on 17 August 1947.
Options A, B, and D describe other aspects or consequences of partition but not the specific mandate of the Radcliffe Committee.
