Explanation
According to the historical numbering system of Indian National Highways, National Highway 2 connected Delhi to Kolkata. This highway passed through major cities including Mathura, Agra, Kanpur, Allahabad, and Varanasi. It was one of the busiest roads in India and constituted a major portion of the historic Grand Trunk Road. Although the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways renumbered the entire national highway network in 2010, this question refers to the traditional numbering system where NH 2 was the designated route for the Delhi to Calcutta stretch.
