Explanation

The idea of a Constituent Assembly for India was first put forward by M.N. Roy, a pioneer of the communist movement in India, in 1934. In the same year, the Swaraj Party, during its conference in Ranchi, formally adopted this demand and became the first political group to officialy moot the idea of a Constituent Assembly to frame a constitution for India. While the Indian National Congress officially adopted the demand in 1935, the Swaraj Party had already proposed it earlier in 1934.
