Passage - II I opened the bag and packed the boots in; and then, just as I was going to close it, a horrible idea occurred to me - Had I packed my toothbrush? I don't know how it is, but I never do know whether I've packed my toothbrush. My toothbrush is a thing that haunts me when I'm travelling, and makes my life a misery, I dream that haven't packed it, and wake up in a cold perspiration, and get out of bed and hunt for it. And, in the morning, I pack it before I have used it, and it is always the last thing I turn out of the bag; and then repack and forget it, and have to rug upstairs for it at the last moment and carry it to the railway station, wrapped up in my pocket- handkerchief. What makes his life miserable whenever he undertakes travelling?
- AGoing to railway station
- BForgetting the toothbrushCorrect
- CPacking his bag
- DBad dreams
Explanation
The passage explicitly states, "My toothbrush is a thing that haunts me when I'm travelling, and makes my life a misery." It details his constant worry about packing it, forgetting it, and the repeated struggle.
A) Going to railway station: The passage mentions carrying the toothbrush to the station but doesn't imply the journey itself is miserable. B) Forgetting the toothbrush: This is directly stated as the source of his misery and the focus of his anxiety throughout the passage. C) Packing his bag: While packing is involved, the misery is specifically tied to the toothbrush within the packing process, not the act of packing in general. D) Bad dreams: The bad dreams are a consequence or symptom of his anxiety about the toothbrush, not the root cause of his misery. The underlying problem is the toothbrush issue.
