Explanation

During the Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's Dandi March, similar salt satyagrahas were organized across different parts of India. In the Madras Presidency (present-day Tamil Nadu), C. Rajagopalachari, a prominent Congress leader, led a Salt March. He marched from Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) to Vedaranyam on the Tanjore (Thanjavur) coast in April 1930 to break the Salt Law. This was a significant regional demonstration of the larger national movement.
